I have always found working with sheet metal very interesting, however it’s very difficult to work with sheet metal and produce the desired result when working with limited tooling. This is why I decided to create a sheet metal brake, allowing me to bend up to 2mm thick aluminium or 1mm thick steel into boxes or pans.
I designed and made this tool by myself from scrap mild steel using a MIG welder, angle grinder, drill press, and various other basic hand tools.
The skills I gained from this project prove to be invaluable in my day-to-day life at university, as I am very familiar with a vast range of tools and how to use them.
